English Grammar
I always correct mistakes when my students speak or write. Correcting pronunciation mistakes is also very important. I put a strong emphasis on grammar. Grammar is complicated sometimes, but if you know it well , you will not make critical mistakes. I have made it a habit to constantly check for mistakes, even little ones, when my students read texts, retell them, discuss them, write short summaries, etc.
Just knowing very simple rules makes it possible to build your own sentences correctly, hence making communication possible. My internet site will help students with that. I
also sent files (in pdf- format) with common words and grammar. Different kinds of exercises are used to get the new structures into long- term memory.
Absolute beginners start off making very easy sentences. Once they are able to do it, they begin to make the sentences more complicated.
For example:
1. They read.
2. They read books.
3. They read books every day.
4. They read interesting books every day.
5. They read interesting books every day when they come from work.
6. They read interesting books every day when they come from work unless they are tired.
7. They read interesting books every day when they come from work unless they are very tired.
etc.
(Of course, these sentences will be in the language that you are learning )
